Now Serving Ramen, Tsujita LA

Tsujita LA Tonkotsu Ramen

With what feels like a head cold now that the Santa Ana winds have died down but my congestion still lingers, I had a craving for something warm today - like curry, chili, soon tofu, or ramen.

So off to Sawtelle we walked, on our way to Tofu-ya or Curry House. We stopped to see if Tsujita LA was serving their ramen lunch yet... lo and behold, they were as of Wednesday of this week! There was also a sign in the window that warned - CASH ONLY.

We wrote our names down for a table for two and thankfully didn't have to wait too long. There was a choice of Tsukemen noodles with dipping sauce which MS ordered, or the Tonkotsu ramen with two slices of good quality pork, nori and green onions which I gladly ordered.

After tasting MS' thicker and chilled noodles dipped in his salty dipping sauce on the side, I knew that I preferred my thinner noodles in its warm, complex fish-pork broth with a dash of shichimi togarashi (Japanese seven spice). I slurped the noodles, cooked al dente - you can indicate how "hard" you like your noodles cooked, and enjoyed sweating some of my head cold away.

Will be back again for their ramen. Next time, I'll order it with a side of egg!
