MS and I had a date night last month at Gordon Ramsay at the London in West Hollywood. Partly because I had an Open Table special deal that was expiring that night, but mostly because it's important to keep regular date nights - the kind that you can dress up a little, wear a little make-up, and feel giddy about a night out with your loved one.
We drove to the Sunset Strip and had to circle twice before turning into the valet driveway of the London Hotel off of San Vicente. Since we fitted my car with the baby seat already and I have a bright pink towel lining my seat (just in case my water breaks while I'm in the car), I was glad that we took MS' fancy car.
I hate to admit that in this city of beautiful people and beautiful things, I sometimes get caught up with what people might think of me and my car that's in need of a wash and screams - ALMOST A MOM CAR! But then again, I'm thinking of getting another car... one that really says: Soccer Mom Car. I just can't fathom spending so much on a used or new car!
So instead, I splurge on food like the above Lobster and Mushroom Champagne Risotto - rich and creamy, it was a great start to our decadent dinner out on the town.

The Grilled Kingfish Crudo with radish, mushrooms and rice crackers were a light and refreshing complement to the previous dish. Both MS and I were happy with our starters, and looked forward to our entrees as we sat in our gold gilded table for two that had a great view of the city lights outside.

My Châteaubriand was cooked perfectly with red onion marmalade, mushrooms and potato purée - a great blend of savory and sweet. Baby S and I were definitely enjoying all the delicious food from the infamous Hell's Kitchen chef.

MS ordered the Fish and Chips made with halibut, lemon and tartar sauce. There was also a side of pureed peas with a distinct smoky flavor that came on the plate. This dish wasn't something I would have ordered, but it was interesting to see how Ramsay reimagined this classic comfort food into something a little more refined.

But the best part of the meal was probably ending with the sweet and fluffy Mango Soufflé with a side of creamy caramel ice cream. Unfortunately for MS, he was busy looking at his Blackberry at the end of the night - probably to check into Four Square or to tweet a snapshot of our meal - and I devoured all but one bite of this delectable dessert!
After all, I'm all about sharing... but hey, you snooze, you lose! I'm lucky that my husband isn't a huge sweets fan to begin with, and always lets me have more than his share. I definitely enjoyed every spoonful!
