I Dream of Pasta, Osteria Mozza

Grilled Figs wrapped in pancetta, Osteria Mozza

A few months ago, MS and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary at Osteria Mozza.

Little did I know that I'd have gestational diabetes and that I'd have to watch what I ate. So while I was blissfully ignorant at the time, we enjoyed dishes like the Grilled Figs wrapped in pancetta with bitter greens & aceto balsamico above.

Gnocchi with duck ragu, Osteria Mozza

And the Gnocchi with duck ragu... which I loved so much, I ordered a second plate of this comforting and savory dish.

It's what I now dream of and long for these days when all I can do is count my carb intake, portion out how much protein I can have, and make sure that I don't eat too many fruits or fats.

I've lost about five pounds since I started this harsh diet. Well, "harsh" for a food-lover like myself. And I'm left to wonder, how much longer do I have?

My head knows that it's all worth it in the end, to be healthy and have a healthy baby. But my heart yearns for butter, cream, sweets and anything fried.

All I can say is that it's been a rough day.
