I love my coworkers.
Every year, we have a cookie exchange during the holiday season.
There's a Monday Cake Club in which we each take turns trying out a new cake recipe from scratch. I've baked two myself.
The First Friday of the Month Breakfast Club meets at a local restaurant. One day, I'll make the 6am group meeting!
A couple years ago, we had a chili cook-off. I would have joined in the contest if I had a slow cooker, but enjoyed sampling each of the 10+ varieties that were entered.
Last year, we rank-ordered our favorite M&Ms. Mine were Peanut and Almond, while my least favorite was Coconut. It was surprising to taste so many flavors of the classic candy!
So when I saw the shelves of different Pocky flavors at Nijiya market, I thought... POCKY TASTING!
Here was the Pocky line-up:
Chocolate Pocky
Strawberry Pocky
Milk Chocolate Pocky
Mixed Berry Pocky
Chocolate Swirl Pocky (2 varieties)
Chocolate Coconut Pocky
Chocolate Almond Pocky
Chocolate Salty Cookie Pocky
Men's Dark Pocky
Chocolate Cocoa Pocky
After sampling each one, my favorites were the Mixed Berry Pocky and the Chocolate Almond Pocky - which makes sense since I love the almond M&Ms as well. Again, my least favorite was the Chocolate Coconut Pocky. Bleh. Coconut. Definitely not one of my favorite flavors.
I wonder... did I miss any other flavors? I wonder what they'll come up with next!

this is my kinda challenge! can you figure out why it's called "men's pocky?!?"
Hi Lynn! Thanks for stopping by! Yes, food challenges are the best kind - especially when they're so sweet! "Men's Pocky" is a bittersweet dark chocolate, and I have NO idea why it's only marketed for men. Always thought that was weird...
It's marketed that way because in Japan tastes vary. Women are generally interested in sweets while men prefer less sweet and more savory items. It's just a cultural thing.
Also!! I love that your work does food challenges and would LOVE if we had some fun interactivity like that. I think every place of business could benefit from involving their employees in some sort of fun to help with motivational issues.
The main reasons for a disgruntled employee is lack of motivation and impersonal interaction with management. If the employees felt like they had a reason to be there, and were treated as specific individuals, their production would be increased greatly.
Hi LiquidGlacid,
Thanks for stopping by! Yes... I totally agree with you since my husband prefers less sweet than I do. And yup... I feel pretty lucky to work at a place that loves food as much as I do! :)
