BLD: breakfast, lunch, DINNER in LA

KT's Entertainment Birthday

I've known KT way before she was the sophisticated, Blackberry carrying public relations guru she is today. And I can't believe how grown up she's become.

We celebrated her birthday last week with an early impromptu dinner at BLD Restuarant. With a small group of six, we toasted to friendship and good drinks with a 2001 Havens Syrah - which according to the birthday girl herself, was a good year [$49]. And it was deliciously smooth and a great choice for our dinner out.

bld = breakfast, lunch, dinner?

This very hip and modern restaurant was fairly empty at around 5:30pm but was hopping with lively chatter in just a couple of hours. They had quite the wine selection, and we started with the Charcuterie with deliciously sliced prosciutto and other appetizers that seemed to be a good starter plate [$6, not pictured].

BLD: constructive chicken

KT had eaten here before and recommended the Constructive Chicken Dinner as did our wonderfully friendly server, Michael. The portions were large, and I was happy to share some of the chicken family-style. Cooked moist and tender, the meat was juicy and tasty with the pesto sauce served on the side. Michael suggested the chorizo potatoes and brussel sprouts as sides - great choices that were absolutely delicious.

Ask any of my friends who were there - they were all witness to my gluttony. I ate the entire plate after sharing a few pieces with the girls!

BLD: penne with sausageTW ordered the Penne with Sausage [$14, pictured above] while CLB ordered the Special Pasta of the night [$15, not pictured]. Both dishes were full of flavor and generous in size.

But what really topped the night off were the desserts. KT blew out her candles off of a sweet Banana Crepe with Nutella that was too good to be true [$7].

But then again, anything with Nutella is pure perfection!

BLD: pumpkin bread puddingWe also shared some berry sorbet that was light and fruity [$2.50, not pictured], and their seasonal Pumpkin Bread Pudding that was not too sweet but had an interesting fall flavor [$7, pictured above]. Topped with pumpkin seeds and a dollup of whipped cream, it was a great pre-Thanksgiving dessert.

And after ALL that, I was fully STUFFED - fat, full, and happy!

Yeah... I was kind of sad to hear about CC's experience. But it was good for me and I'd definitely go back to BLD for another dinner... or lunch or breakfast. ;)
