You know a guy is into you when...
...he helps organize your birthday party
...he orders a special Korean cheesecake for you with candles
...he buys you a hand-crafted necklace he designed himself
...he proposes after your first few dates
It wasn't long ago that we were celebrating JK's birthday at Chan Dara on Larchmont. That was the first night I met Tom. I had heard stories about him and knew that this guy was different. Not bad different, but different in a good way. And was happy to finally meet him in person.JK decided on a local favorite. On the north side of Larchmont Village, the restaurant is a little off the beaten path. It's away from the Pizzeria, away from the magazine stand, and next to the dog store. The outside walls are covered with ivy, and heat lamps warm the outside patio area for restaurant patrons. A quaint one-story house converted into an artistic and culinary experience welcomes you into its colorful space. It's a family run business with pretty friendly service.
When everyone arrived for the birthday dinner, Tom took charge and ordered several dishes for our dinner. Sweet pad thai noodles, shrimp fried rice, deliciously marinated clams with bell peppers, and this beautifully arranged - most delectable deep fried catfish with sweet relish and flavorful sauce were among the dishes. After an appetizing dinner, we lit the candles and sang a round of "Happy Birthday" as JK blew out the candles. I'm not sure what she wished for but after meeting Tom, I know that he'll make all her wishes come true. And lucky me...I'm the Maid of Honor! =)

For a minute, I was all, "Tom? Who the hell is Tom? What happened to Mac?"
:P
Ditto me......LOL!
OK, so I wasn't the only one, Prof Salt & Kirk. LOL!
I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience here. We used to get huge attitude from the manager & the servers here so we stopped going.
The atmosphere is nice at House of Chan dara, the waitresses are for the most part, beautiful, at least ours was, and the food was ok. The fried seabass that we ordered was actually a disappointment, muddy tasting. The ice creams were delicious, as were the curries and satays we had. The beef stew was on the salty side, but the fried rice was very good, with plenty chilies. Overall, not bad, especially considering there were 15 in our party and the bill was $500. Too bad my cousin chet's credit card was declined, Brad, dad, and Joyce picked up the tab whence Chet bailed the scene. l
