Margaritas: Take Two at Cozymel's

Happy Hour. What a lovely concept. After a long day of work, you meet up with a couple of friends over happy hour for some cheap drinks and eats. I wonder when, where, and who started this idea of happy hour.

Since MS works in the South Bay area, I drove down from the City to El Segundo to meet up with him and a few other friends. The original plan was to drink and eat at the McCormick and Schmidt's in Manhattan Beach, but the happy hour crowd was a bit too much on that Friday evening. And the executive decision was made to move our happy hour outing down the street to Cozymel's. After two large mango margaritas and snacking on some chips and salsa, I didn't order another fancy. Just a beef taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans.

Nothing too fancy, this restaurant reminded me of something like Denny's or Carrow's...just with a Mexican flavor. Not high on my "Best of LA" list of good eats, but it's a great place to relax, unwind, be loud, and drink some cheap happy hour mango margaritas.

I've been here once 5 years ago. Don't remember it because of all the margaritas...they actually mailed me a free 10 dollar gift certificate a few months ago...never used it.

Was the food better here or at El Cholo? I tried making enchiladas the other day but my sauce needs work.

xericx: You probably could have had a couple large margaritas during happy hour w/that gift certificate! :) Mmm...a margarita sounds good right now!

Mark: I'd have to say El Cholo's. I definitely ate more chips at El Cholo's. But both are eh when it comes to real authentic Mexican food. Hmm...now I'm suddenly craving carnitas...

Dylan: The all-you-can-eat chips and salsa are dangerous, for sure!!! ;) The ones at Paco's are extra yummy!
