Fat Fish cut sushi rolls

AL recommended this trendy Asian fusion/sushi restaurant for dinner a couple weeks ago. After his shifts at the hospital, he often frequents the reasonable Happy Hours here, and well - I was lucky to come along to sample some of their infamous cut sushi rolls.

I arrived early and after a quick drive by of the restaurant, I found some free street metered parking off of Melrose, just east of Robertson. (Parking is free after 6pm - otherwise, you could valet the car or try your luck with other street parking).

As I waited for AL, I ordered the Lychee Martini. After having my first one at Natalee Thai, I wanted to see if I would enjoy this one as much as I did that first time. It also helped that my very friendly server, Johnny, highly recommended it. The drink had a grainy texture, as if the fruit was pureed and mixed with the vodka. Sweet yet subtle, this drink was cool to the taste but left me somewhat unsatisfied. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Regardless, other patrons commented and inquired about my drink; then placed orders of their own Lychee-tinis at the bar.

Once AL arrived, we ordered four different sushi rolls: the Love Roll, Albacore Roll, Seattle Roll, and Ichi Roll. All were delicious, but my favorite was the Seattle Roll - deep fried tempura style roll with salmon, avocado and a hint of cream cheese...a must try at this chic restaurant in West Hollywood.
